Alyssa Schilling
Children’s Ministry Coordinator
Alyssa (pronounced like ‘Alisha’) was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She studied cello starting in 6th grade, and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. She fell in love with teaching middle school Orchestra, dedicating 7 years to the Dekalb County School District.
Alyssa committed her life to Christ in 2014 as a senior in college (the same time she began attending Journey). She always felt called to serve in the Children's Ministry, but God had other plans and didn’t open that door until 2022. Towards the end of her teaching career in 2024, Alyssa felt called to full-time ministry and joined the church staff in July 2025.
Alyssa is an outgoing introvert with a Southern accent, and you can find her at home, perched in the dark with a hot cup of tea and a book, or playing videogames with her buff firefighter husband, Parker Schilling (March 2025).
